Celebrating Lunar New Year Safely in 2021 with U.S. Bank

Celebrating Lunar New Year Safely in 2021

The Year of the Ox is full of exciting possibilities. As we look to celebrate Lunar New Year in 2021, things look different as they have for other celebrations in 2020 and continuing in 2021. At U.S. Bank, we are offering a few opportunities to celebrate safely.

“While we have all had to adapt and pivot over the past several months during the global pandemic, we are finding ways to continue celebrating Lunar New Year in our communities,” said Eddie Chen, Vice President Business Banking Relationship Manager, U.S. Bank. “We have created opportunities to celebrate safely by gifting red envelopes through the use of Zelle, our online 2021 calendars and our financial wellness webinars. We are excited to celebrate and welcome in the Year of the Ox.”

Red Envelopes Gifting a red envelope with lucky money is an important hallmark of Lunar New Year. This year, we encourage people to use Zelle to send your red envelopes easily and efficiently to family members across the country. We have come up with a fun and unique way to send the red envelopes through the app. As a reminder, Zelle is free for U.S. Bank customers.

2021 Calendars We also continue our tradition of offering 2021 calendars in some of our branch locations. New this year, we are offering a downloadable calendar online as well as digital wallpapers for your devices.

Financial Wellness As we celebrate this new year, we want everyone to plan for a healthy and prosperous year. To help, we are offering free financial wellness webinars to help you get the year started right. A full schedule can be found online.

Small Business support We recently began taking in applications for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Payment Protection Program (PPP) as part of the federal administration’s most recent COVID-19 support. As with earlier rounds of PPP, U.S. Bank is assisting its current customers – as well as non-customers in the 26 states in which the bank has a retail presence – through the application process. Businesses will have until March 31, 2021 to apply or until funds run out, whichever comes first. Eligible business owners can apply at www.usbank.com/ppp.

Community partnerships In addition to celebrating with customers, we continue our support in our communities partnering with nonprofits focused on supporting Asian communities with workforce advancement, housing, small business development, and COVID-19 relief.

In San Diego, U.S. Bank partners with the Asian Business Association of San Diego, which works to build sustainable communities through inclusive economic development and a qualified diverse workforce. The organization supports small business owners and entrepreneurs with a focus on engaging Asian and Pacific Islander and hard-to-reach communities to participate in educational workshops, no-cost technical assistance, business mentorship, and access to capital sessions which are taught by knowledgeable and experienced business leaders. In 2020, U.S. Bank provided a sponsorship to ABASD support small businesses with relief and recovery efforts due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
