About the event
The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Public Information Office (PIO) will provide a short Power Point presentation that will include a brief overview of the new mandatory Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training required for alcohol servers and their managers.
The California Legislature passed Assembly Bill 1221, the Responsible Beverage Service Training Program Act. The law requires that all alcohol servers and their managers who work at locations that serve alcohol on site must register with the ABC, take a training course from an ABC approved RBS training provider, then pass an exam with a score of 70% or higher so they can be RBS certified and compliant with the new law.
The RBS certification process (register, take the training, and pass the exam) must be completed by August 31, 2022.
Businesses that are licensed by ABC that serve alcohol on site include bars, restaurants, wineries, breweries, brewpubs, distilleries, and any location where alcohol is served and consumed on the premises. ABC Public Information Officer John Carr will answer questions following the short five-minute Power Point presentation.
