Bid Opportunities for City College Project with Hensel Phelps

Dear Small Business Advocate,

The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) is pleased to share with you as a courtesy the attached notice for bid opportunities on the San Diego City College A, D and T Buildings renovation project, a Design/Build project in partnership with Hensel Phelps and RJC Architects.  I would appreciate your assistance in posting this notice and/or sharing through electronic distribution lists or other means, especially to those partners or members you believe are minority-, woman- or disabled veteran-owned.

All Design/Build projects in the SDCCD require the project team to submit a Subcontracting Participation Plan to identify the percentage of small and historically underutilized (S/HUBE firms) they intend to partner with or areas of work they intend to bid out to such firms.   The Hensel Phelps project team has identified the following to be targeted to S/HUBE firms:

·         Bullet Resistant Transaction Windows

·         Won Door

·         Hydro Composite Fiberglass Tank

·         Viewing Deck for Fiberglass Tank

·         Above Ground Pool Filter System

·         Loading Dock Lift

·         Greenhouse Erection

Applicable licenses may include B, C-5, C-17, C-23, C-36, C-51 and C-53. One or more of these licenses is currently on file for you as part of your listing on the District’s database of small and historically underutilized firms.

To work with Hensel Phelps, please register your interest at www.hp-outreach.org.  Registering your interest and completing the online questionnaire allows Hensel Phelps to understand your company’s strengths and qualifications to better match project opportunities. This will also ensure that your company will be bidding against comparable contractors.  Should you have any questions, please contact Giovanna Brasfield, HP’s Manager of Outreach & Diversity, cc’d above and at (949) 852-0111.

To track upcoming SDCCD construction contract opportunities, please visit our bidding and plan room on the Propositions S and N website and monitor our construction program schedule (updated monthly). You can also receive updated bid information and RFP opportunities by following us on Facebook or Twitter.

The San Diego County Water Authority’s Citizens Water Academy is an exciting program that educates current and future leaders in San Diego County about water issues in our region. They recently completed the summer class and are currently recruiting candidates for the fall 2016 class.

Emergency Preparedness for Businesses

With the days growing longer and the weather growing warmer, many San Diegans welcome the change of season with vacations, beach days and BBQs. Although this season can be fun, let’s not forget how dangerous elevated temperatures can be. Moisture, high heat and wind tend to the perfect recipe for fire season. Are you prepared to protect your facility?

Remember, not all fires are created equally and must be addressed differently. To ensure your business is protected and equipped with the proper extinguisher, follow the guidelines below:
