Construction at San Diego International Airport

San Diego International Airport is hosting an awareness event to promote the upcoming Terminal 2 Parking Plaza construction and connect contractors, vendors and suppliers related to parking structures with Swinerton Builders and the Airport Authority’s Small Business team.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet shortlisted bidders for the main building electrical package. There is more than $20 million in small business opportunities for the Parking Plaza project. A Parking Plaza in front of Terminal 2 has been in the works for years. Construction is scheduled to get underway in late summer. The new Parking Plaza will have three floors and include approximately 3,000 parking stalls, a net increase of 1,800 parking stalls. It will enhance customer service by integrating state-of-the-art parking technology that will allow motorists to find available parking spaces, reserve spaces in advance and pay before leaving. The Parking Plaza is also expected to have environmental benefits, by reducing total vehicle trips for passengers who park on site versus being dropped off and picked up. The Parking Plaza will also have an aesthetically pleasing design that will include public art. For more information on the Parking Plaza, visit
