Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a director of Interactive Media to lead creative operations for the sector in a new Center of Excellence.  This role will report to the director of Strategy & Pillars and lead the Center of Excellence’s talented team of photographers, videographers, digital and Creative Services teams. The new Center of Excellence will serve as an internal creative resource that works in partnership with divisional and functional directors on strategic initiatives, programs and campaigns.

 

Primary job responsibilities include:

·         Manages the department establishes the overall creative strategy and ensures alignment with the sector-level communications strategy as well as business priorities.

·         Provides strategic guidance to team based on goals, objectives and company policy.

·         Develops creative programs that meet the company business objectives and advance brand strategy.

·         Builds relationships with internal clientele across sector to achieve business success.

·         Manages multiple projects from concept through completion.

·         Directs the creative work of the interactive media team to maintain the company’s high standards of excellence, timeliness, and profitability.

·         Establishes a collaborative and engaging work environment for the interactive team across all geographic locations.

·         Consults with regional function leads and other partners to ensure clear roles, responsibilities and clearly defined work.

·         Plans and establishes budget, work goals, measurements, and training requirements necessary to provide both profitable and quality service to clients.

·         Provides detailed information and cost estimates to ensure accurate data on which to plan and develops functional objectives and budgets leading to stable and profitable accounts.

·         Oversees creative consultations with account teams to deliver appropriate creative strategies, schedules, budgets, production support, necessary reviews, and client presentations.

·         Directs staff and oversees execution of all creative efforts to ensure that they are aligned with strategy, within budget, and on schedule.

·         Responsible for full life cycle talent management process for team; including selection, development, compensation and performance management.

·         Participates in new business efforts.

·         Facilitates and promotes corporate initiatives and values throughout the function.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

·         Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing communications, advertising or related field

·         At least ten years of demonstrated experience leading a creative team and campaigns

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting schedule, budget and quality standards

·         Strong strategic thinking, interpersonal and organizational skills  

·         Excellent collaboration, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively interface with all levels of management

·         Experienced presenter to executive leadership

·         High energy, systems thinker with demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level

·         Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suites to include Acrobat

·         Ability to obtain a DoD secret level clearance is required            

·         Occasional travel required

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector Communications seeks a Director of Communications Strategy & Pillars to join its team, in our Linthicum, MD office (with the ability to alternate primary location with the McLean, VA office as needed).*

 

This role serves as the advisor leading the development and execution of integrated sector-level communications strategy, planning and messaging.  As a member of and in partnership with the Communications leadership team, will lead this new function bringing together enterprise communication strategies, pillar communications and interactive media.  The group will take a systems approach to overall communications and will link strategy development and implementation.   It will also drive focus on best-practice communications in digital, visual and social media. 

 

Responsibilities:

·         Set the strategy and tactical plan for expanding awareness of Northrop Grumman’s brand through Mission Systems’ accomplishments, thought leadership, capabilities and operational performance.

·         Actively engage with emerging and non-traditional communications avenues and outlets, including but not limited to platforms, partnerships and branded content.

·         Identify opportunities to continually improve upon the sector’s in-house capability to deliver world-class communications.

·         Lead development and execution of sector-level integrated communications strategy by:

·         Creating top down integrated messaging to be used across the enterprise

·         Overseeing sector contributions to external communications hubs and the internal and external website

·         Ensure integrated approach and program across divisions and functions

·         Support pillar communications campaigns

·         Partner with peer directors on the following:

·         Communications’ Long Range Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan

·         Communications strategy and associated integrated communications plans for key recurring and non-recurring employee and external initiatives and campaigns via social, digital and traditional media

·         Partner specifically with director of Global Media to:

·         Prioritize social media target audiences and develop/install advanced targeting techniques to reach and/or improve engagement levels

·         Audit existing content library and development methodology and design enhanced techniques/workflow to ensure universal best practices are in place for delivering desired outcomes by social media target

·         Ensure materials developed for international markets effectively link to sector and corporate brand platform for global brand and campaign consistency

·         Conduct regular audits of communication plan execution by internal and external partners and provide feedback and direction to ensure strategies are effectively and coherently delivered through-the-line in all sector communications.

·         Lead content planning for internal quarterly sector and corporate functional Communications reviews.

 

Qualifications

·         At least 15 years of broad corporate communications experience

·         Past experience in leadership role with a public relations, branding, marketing services or advertising firm

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector Communications seeks a Director of Executive, Employee and Change Communications to join its team, in our Linthicum, MD office.

 

This role leads the development and execution of the sector level internal communications strategy, including employee engagement, executive support and organizational change management. This includes support for domestic and global communications programs, development of editorial policy, execution of integrated communications campaigns, brand strategy and support for change management in collaboration with Human Resources.

 

·         Manage an integrated communications plan for internal sector initiatives and develop internal communications campaigns to support business imperatives, strategic priorities and to drive a common culture.

·         Serve as communications lead for development of sector-wide change management strategies designed to maximize employee adoption of Mission Systems-led initiatives.

·         Oversee internal communications team that supports Mission Systems overall business strategy, enhances company culture and protects the brand and reputation.

·         Oversee internal communications budget, ensuring that overall budgets, schedules, and performance standards are met.

·         Work collaboratively with the vice president of Communications to provide strategic counsel, support and execution for communicating with and across key stakeholder groups, including senior leaders, internal client groups, and employees at functional and enterprise levels. Duties include speechwriting, development of messaging platforms, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion campaigns, etc.

·         Consolidate CEO’s communications platform, including media relations, communications, executive speakers bureaus, influencer programs, public affairs and other critical areas.

·         Develop editorial policy and manage employee communications vehicles, including publications, intranet, webcasts and employee events.

·         Lead interface with corporate global communications directors, Corporate Global Business Development Office representatives, Country Executives to ensure an integrated and consistent communications program. 

·         Work collaboratively with Corporate Communications and other business sectors to develop and execute enterprise-wide communications initiatives and projects. 

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field

·         At least 15 years of broad corporate communications experience supporting internal communications programs, with direct experience communicating internal cultural change and evolution

·         Track record of leadership success with substantial change communications projects, in addition to executive-level written and verbal communications skills

·         Extensive knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools

·         Demonstrated experience developing successful and innovative communications programs to support organizations undergoing change or transformation with proven business results
